Tasmanian Sulky Fund
BOTRA Tas has been instrumental in the introduction of the new Tasmanian Sulky Fund, announced by Harness Racing Tasmania in October 2008.
The Sulky Fund will benefit trainers, who will be covered for damage to their sulkies occurring on the race track during races and official trials. The maximum claim for damages is $1,600, which includes write-off, funded by a levy of $1 for every race starter sourced from the $12 Insurance Levy applicable to all starters in all races in Tasmania; trainers will not be required to make any contribution to the Sulky Fund.
The Fund will be managed by a board of three persons, including one BOTRA Tas representative.
