Devonport Cup field selections
I just cannot understand how some of the horses in the field gained a run before Jumpin Jack Jasper. 
He was a winner of 4 of his last 8 starts with 2 placings as well. Horses with form a lot worse than that are Atom Bomb Belle - Strauss - Trouble No More - Perfect Tie - Majestic Emperor and Dontfencemein.
I have nothing against these horses or their owners or trainers but I understand why some of our horses that have risen through the classes are being sent interstate to continue their racing career.

Goes to show the handicapping and field selection in our feature races,and including discretionary races , leaves a great deal to be desired.If you can tell me how Jumping Jack Jasper got omitted and armbro spur deserved 10 mtrs I would love to hear from you.Surely something must be done before all our promising horses go over the river.
I can here you, when they get to this class, they either dont get a run, or they are handicapped too hard and then forced interstate to do there future racing. We wonder why we can not keep FFA horses here in the state.
valid point! jumping jack jasper should of got a run ahead of trouble no more for sure.but couldnt see him in the 1st five any way. but you gota be in it to win it.
Its pretty clear to everyone except maybe the handicapper that Jumpin Jack Flash should have got a start before some other runners. And discretionary handicapping should only be handled by someone who knows what they are doing. There have been some very bad examples lately and ARmbro Spur being the only horse in the cup on his true mark is one of them. Why would anyone think its a good idea to put ten horses off the front especially in a 3000 metre race anyway.
